Founded by Tom Harman Smith in 1971, The Islander has been the only weekly news publication on Ascension Island.

 

It is entirely managed, edited, printed and collated by a team of volunteers.

The Islander was recently awarded a generous donation from the Blue Marine Foundation which funded the purchase of some much needed new printing equipment.  This, along with the continued dedication and support of our voluntary team, will, hopefully, keep the Islander running for many years to come.
